Wilma Jean Powders

August 27, 1929 — October 18, 2013

Wilma Jean Cowan entered this world on August 27th, 1929 in Salina, Oklahoma. Born to William Herbert Cowan & Mary Helen (McElroy) Cowan. Wilma married Archie Ervin Powders on June 12th 1948 in Pryor, Ok. Wilma was a very hard working woman for all of her life, in the several fields she was employed at. Wilma was an avid farmer growing much of the food she used to feed the many grandchildren that frequented her home. Wilma was a woman that cooked very large meals daily for all those that needed fed. She loved to be in the gardens and outside with the grandchildren. She was a woman of character that would never turn away someone in need of help and would give you her last dollar. She helped raise grandchildren and took several people in that needed a place to stay through the years. Being a generous woman was a very big part of what defined her. She loved to help people in any way that she could. The vacations she and Archie would go on were never denied to any of the grandchildren that wanted to go along. Family was very much a tradition with Wilma. She adored all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren! Wilma's hobbies were a variety of crafts. She crocheted dolls and many things for her grandchildren. She also loved to quilt making many blankets for the many family members to make sure no one ever was cold. Many of these blankets still keep beds warm to this day! It is an impossible task to define Wilma's life within a few paragraphs. She was so many things to so many people and she will be missed by many!
